Penguin Safari in South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula

Explore the incredible icy landscapes of South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula, and enjoy an assortment of activities for a truly enchanting polar adventure.

Board your modern cruise ship, and home for the next 17 days in Ushuaia. You will be sailing from the Beagle Channel towards the southernmost tip of South America, and then passing the Antarctic Convergence. It is an invisible biological boundary where the cold waters of Antarctica meet the warm waters of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. This amazing natural phenomenon contributes to the large population of Antarctic krill, a major food source for whales, seals and birds.

You can expect to see elephant seals, king penguins, albatrosses and Cape petrels on the beaches of the South Georgia islands. While here, you will also get to visit the historic Grytviken whaling station with the tiny cemetery where the great Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackletonis buried.

Be mesmerized by the icy landscapes around you as your ship makes its way to the South Shetland Islands. Keep an eye out for seals, orcas and whales. Enjoy shore visits and zodiac boat excursions to explore the local bays, visit a research station and spot colonies of chinstrap, Adélie, and gentoo penguins. We also recommend savoring the serene silence here, which is broken only by the sounds of the region’s amazing wildlife.
